On a gorgeously sunny day in October I drove to the city, caught the tube, a flight and finally boarded a train from Zurich to the stunning Swiss town of Pontresina. I was destined for Naomi and Mark’s magical, beautiful Muottas Muragl Wedding.
The journey took me through loop tunnels and over dizzying viaducts. It was easily one of the most picturesque train journeys you could every wish to take. The train journey has a UNESCO World Heritage label and to make it even more spectacular, an unexpected amount of snow had fallen. All coming together for the perfect backdrop for a wonderful couple’s wedding day. Guests had flown in from all over the globe and those who traveled the same journey I did were in for a treat from start to finish.
The day started with Naomi getting ready at her beautiful Swiss family home, surrounded by alpine trees and views of the mountains. Her journey to church was in a traditional horse and carriage sleigh from nearby Stalla Costa that took her through the village and past smiling passers-by.
Mark waited for his gorgeous bride at the beautiful 13th century Santa Maria Church. The smallest most incredible church I have ever seen. Steeped in history with mediaeval frescoes on the walls it was a perfect setting for a beautifully heartfelt ceremony. After a confetti throw in the snow it was back to the horse and sleigh for a journey through the forest to the Funicular which took us up to the top of the mountain. Here we found the spectacular Romantik Restaurant Muottas Muragl which held host to their wedding reception. With views over the Alps we watched the sun go down, partied, ate amazing food and celebrated in pure style. A truly wonderful day for an amazing couple!
