When Rachel and Seth first got in touch with me, they told me they would be having their beautiful Tremenheere Gardens wedding in the summer. It was a place that held a lot of sentiment to them both, having grown up in the area and having spent a lot of time there themselves, it was a perfect choice for them. They described the gardens to me as ‘space that has a lot of contemporary art and planting within it, as well as great views’.
They were not wrong!
As we spoke some more, I learned that the views looked out over St Micheals Mount in the distance. And the contemporary art included the beautiful James Turrell Skyspace. A fantastic art installation that is a temple like structure with an elliptical room that has a huge ceiling opening that frames the sky. It is a quiet space, all white with the light bouncing around you. You enter through an underground tunnel into a brilliant space that takes your breath away. It was in this installation that Rachel and Seth were planning on having their marriage ceremony. It has been sanctioned for marriages and truly makes for a unique and beautiful place to be married.
Everyone hoped for good weather and we got beautiful blue skies. It was bliss. I can honestly say that I have never been in such an awe-inspiring space and it was utterly perfect for a creative couple like Rachel and Seth.
Family and friends gathered in the Skyspace for their ceremony in the late afternoon and afterwards had champagne above it, enjoying the evening warm and views over to St Michaels Mount. A surprise for Seth was the arrival of a family friend in his gold (from top to bottom!) vintage Bentley to take them both off to their early evening garden party. Amazing weather meant a relaxed outdoor dinner and then to bed for all ready for part two the next day, their humanist ceremony in the gardens with all their family and friends and a good old knees up party to celebrate.
